THE FACE OF BRAZIL

Hello boys and girls....
About two weeks ago I got in touch with a very old friend to me from Brazil, whom I haven't seen in about eight or nine years. Cool huh?. Well it was definitely great to talk to her and get to know what she is doing with her life.

Francis Lives in the state of Parana in Brazil, in a little town called União de Vitória, where she had an export import company, exporting lumber and other material world wide which her state specializes in. Unfortunately due to globalization and the cheap Chinese market factor, her state, city and in fact business lost a lot of lumber market to the Chinese. In her city alone eight hundred jobs were lost and many more to come.
As sad as this may sound, in the light of those sad even
ts, and economic struggle, Francis has started a great initiative; a project called the face of Brazil. She thought a lot of what she could do to help and change the reality in place, and THE FACE of BRAZIL was the answer.THE FACE OF BRAZIL is a project where crafty men and women who have lost their jobs are working with their hands to produce different art work that represents Brazil and that region of the country.
Francis wish is currently trying to build outside markets and promote these wonderful work of art to the world, in the hopes that to open a new market of handcraft art to their beloved city.
I can tell you that I am proud of her, I mean she have started this project in 2005 and she was the only one in this initiative and today she is part of an organisation of a hundred people trying to help their community.
Based on the manpower of a local plastic artist, her organisation is creating weekly art workshops to produce prints for t-shirts, yokes; dresses, Brazilian subjects painted the hand on silk satin and pure silk. Also they are building partnership with the local University to develop different art courses to help the people produce a better product; different visual art courses will take place in 2006 and hopefully will bring great rewards to the project.
So take the time to look at the different pictures posted in this article and hi…. Contact me or contact my Friend Francis@: francis@pacbrasil.com.br. I am sure she will appreciate it.
Well.. Until next time kids.. god bless you.

Hi Hady,
Thx for telling about this organisation. From the pictures, I can imagine there would be a market for that kind of art. I am sure a website promoting their stuff ( with the name: Face of Brazil) would be a great way to go about it.
Good work
Salut !
Jean
